It's so crazy how fast time goes by. In a few more months we're going to have to put, or give, away the toys she's been playing with for months :( Some she's been playing with since she was born, and there are a lot of them! I've been looking online for some stuff to get her, now and further along. These are some of them:

Photobucket
Wagon for Two Plus

Photobucket
Mozart Magic Cube

Photobucket
Art Master Activity Desk

There is a ton more, but I like to find toys that have the same functions or activities, from different companies, then pick the best one. So I have some research to for the other ones, before I decide. These are a "for sure" on my list.

20/20: What Would You Do/Racism In America

What would YOU do??

I was on a themed roll on stumble earlier today. "What would you do?" videos on YouTube. I'd like to believe that I would step up in EVERY one of these scenarios, but I dont know. Shit happens, other shit is going on, maybe I'm stoned as shit and sometimes you really just don't notice this shit going on.
shit.
ok, it's out of my system.

(The guy telling them to TONE IT DOWN, wtf?!)

There would be NO HESITATION on my part in this situation.

E a cantar, eu nunca te ouvi
Será de ti ou pensas que tens...que ser assim?...

Olha que a vida não, não é nem deve ser
Como um castigo que tu terás que viver
Olha que a vida não, não é nem deve ser
Como um castigo que tu terás que viver

TRANSLATION
change your life, if you're not satisfied
change your life, you can always change
change your life, you shouldn't live in angst
change your life, if there's life throbbing inside you.

i've never seen you smiling
i've never heard you sing
is it you, or do you think you have to be that way?

live isn't and it's not supposed to be like that
like a punishment you have to live through

S. Kagan on Death continued

Monday, May 11, 2009

!!??..??!!..

I've been having some very vivid dreams lately. They feel so real, it's crazy. I've always been one to dream and, hazily, remember them but, lately, they're so hard to forget!

In a dream, where does the dialogue come from? Is it what I would actually say, were I in that situation? Is it what I would WANT to say but couldn't? Taken out of a movie/show/conversation that was watched/spoken prior to the dream? Because the things I've said in said dreams, oh my...!

By Shelly Kagan

I'm a poor fool, with no transportation, baby sitter or money to pursue my education at this point in my life. That doesn't mean I don't like learning now, or I don't enjoy a mental challenge. I enjoy the lectures by Yale Professor Shelly Kagan, in particular. He reminds me of my high school theatre arts teacher and his lectures are really interesting. Philosophy is one of my could-be majors. Along with Poli-Sci, English or Journalism.

Anyway, I am up to part four of Shelly Kagan's Philosophy lectures on Death. I will add more once I get to them. If you aren't interested in these, go ahead and check out http://academicearth.org/, they have something for everyone.

The House Test

What the House Test Says About You

You consider yourself important, but no more important than anyone else. You love attention, but you don't feel like you deserve more of it than anyone else.

You aren't against being community oriented, but it's not really your thing. You tend to prefer to focus on your family and not the neighborhood around you.

You are a playful, charming, and seductive person. People feel instantly close to you.

You look attractive, but mostly because your rely on your natural good looks to get by.

You are moved by the most simple of things. You can find pleasure from a small, perfect moment.

The Marshmallow Test and Willpower.

This is a very cool study. There are other videos, and articles, of studies similar to this one but I liked this one best. I can't believe how these young kids were able to keep themselves from eating the sweet! "Our culture says "Eat the marshmallow," lol.

Translated-Starry River-Vitas

A starry river of the sky
Parting on the map
I love you but for the time being
"Farewell" I say, "farewell"
I am the one who burns bridges
And I don't hear prayers
I am frightened to come down
to the ground from proud heights

In the age of sorrow and losses
We are both unhappy
The light of earthly icon-lamps may go out
But not the stars
We go away from ourselves
Into bad weather and growth
But the fate is determined
By the stars, by the stars

Even the starry ocean
Is unstable today
Our cosmic love affair
Is over, is over...
A starry river of the sky...
Parting on the map...
I love you but for the time being
"Farewell" I say, "farewell"

Those lucid eyes of yours
Are beautiful like stars
Days and voices may fade out
But not the stars...
A starry river of the sky...
Parting on the map...
I love you but for the time being
"Farewell" I say, "farewell"

I knew that shit!

I remember reading my horoscope, or astrology sign characteristics, and thinking "My sign MUST be wrong!" Sure, some things would fit into my life or personality but, mostly, not. LEO...generous, creative, broad-minded, faithful, loving (okay, so far it's good), confident, bossy, patronizing, pompous, dramatic, flamboyant(!), natural leaders and lovers of attention (these things, I am not.)
Well, through Stumbling, I found that I am not a Leo, as suspected. I am, actually, a Cancer.

"Your astrological sign was determined by the position of constellations 2200 years ago. Over time, Earth has tilted on its axis changing these positions... and maybe even your astrological sign!"
Hey baby, what's your real sign?

Haven't felt the itch to blog, but I'm back, guys. No need to worry. ;)

Yummy smells!

I've been looking for a new perfume to buy.
Scents I love include: citrus & floral smells and crisp, clean smells.
Aeropostale perfume is one of my favorites.

It has a very clean, grapefruit/mandarin smell that lasts all day.
Also, 'Pretty' by Elizabeth Arden. the smell is so feminine and sweet.

I couldn't really describe it but this is how the makers do:
"Top Notes – Italian Mandarin Orpur, Orange Blossom, Peach Nectar

Middle Notes – Star Jasmine, Petalia, Pink Iris, White Peony

Dry Down – Fluffy Musk, Jacaranda Wood, Creamy Amber"

Lately, I've been sniffing and collecting the scent samples in my magazines. There are a few that I am going to try. More than likely, I will buy the smallest sizes to sample and decide. Another one I am interested in is Ed Hardy's Love & luck perfume. smells so good!!

Check out this cool site: perfume blog

Party planning!

A few weeks to go until Laila's birthday party! I hope the weather is good, but if not, we'll just move it inside. At first, it was a bit stressful to have to plan and make everything on my own but, now, I like it. I decide and make everything! These are the invitations I made: Photobucket

I think they look pretty cool, and I made them myself, so it's unlikely anyone has had these. Also, I made the goody bags using the templates on the Nick Jr. craft site. They have a lot of useful tips and ideas....free and printable!
So, I have the goody bags and the prizes for the few games we're playing, since she's only turning one and cant participate, are going to be these awesome Muno Balls!:
Photobucket

Not my idea, found it online somewhere but I cant remember what site. Might have been Gabba Friends!

That's all for now, I'll keep ya posted.

May not look like much to you but

this was so good! I was starving, didn't have much to work with and needed sustenance quick! From thought to preparation to cooking then mmmmmmm eating, it took me about 15 minutes.

Angel hair pasta with olive oil, garlic and lemon sauce, and just a bit of parsley. :)

Email posting?

this is a test.

Tween Dora

Mattel/Nick have released the picture of the new, older Dora! She wasn't going to make her big debut until Fall 09 but since there was so many parents complaining about what appeared to be a "sexed up" or "hoochie" Dora, they released it early. Good thing, too, because the teaser silhouette made it look much worse than it really is. From the silhouette picture they released, it looks as if she is wearing a mini dress or skirt, but, actually, she is wearing a cute tunic and leggings! Phew! And Mattel/Nick is reassuring us that we had it ALL wrong! Good thing! I was surprised to read that Dora the Explorer is NOT being replaced at all, this new Dora is going to be a doll for 5-8 year olds. Hook it up via USB and kids can help Dora with "new adventures involving the environment, social action and more." What a relief! What do you think??

"The idea is Dora for more girls," Brodsky says. "The whole point was this was created because moms said help us."

Any tips or comments?

My maaaaaan has an interview for a sales position in his store. He is currently a porter and basic maintenance man at a low to mid priced furniture store and through networking and hard work has been offered an entry level sales position. He has NO sales experience, and management is aware of that, and the interview is with the VP of the company!? If you are in sales, do you have any tips or advice? He is very personable, clear voiced and confident but, as said before, has no experience, so he needs to impress! Thanks guys!

The Good Wife's Guide and stumbling!

We've come a long way from this.

I know, it's pretty old but I still think it is hilarious/ridiculous EVERY TIME I come across this online, usually via SU. Speaking of, I am a slave to stumbling, check out some of my favorite sites here.

Mayflower, the Shetland pony.

She's got them all in a rush in Hampshire.
I thought this was so cute and funny, I had to save it on here!
What a stubby, little pony...if I was driving by, I'd call too!

FREE Harlequin book downloads!

I, for one, have read about 6 of their books...simply because I joined a focus group and they send me free books every few months to read and then complete a survey. Not entirely sure, but I think the focus group is now closed but here is something for everyone!

Harlequin is celebrating 60 years of publishing their wonderfully detailed, sometimes trashy novels. This means YOU get to download 16 free Harlequin books as .pdf files!

I love free stuff!
I love reading!
I love downloading!
I love trashy novels, sometimes.
Perfect!

&&& there is a really corny "Make Your Own Novel" feature as well... :)

The guy and I are enjoying some beers and kind of doing our own thing, while the kiddo sleeps away. He is playing 'KILLZONE 2' and I am, of course, blogging, myspacing and listening to music! It's just so nice to finally relax after a day of party planning, cleaning, laundry and caring for a sick princess!

I've purchased most of the decorations, eating utensils, plates, cups, etc.
There will be a few things that I plan on getting done tonight,
just so I don't have to feel rushed later.

I hate feeling rushed.

Ubuntu

I am considering switching to Ubuntu so I've begun my research. So far, I like what I am seeing, reading and hearing but, still, I continue my research. Like with anything else, it has its pro's and con's. We'll see.

I found this interesting.

One of the things I highly enjoy is researching. I'm a nerd, I know. Have you heard of Gary Chapman's Five Love Languages? There are a few variations online. I, personally, preferred sites that were more relationship based, rather than church based, but that's just me. The idea is that relationships are hard because we are not speaking in our partner's "love language." Once we figure out our respective Primary Love Language we can then use that to fill our "love tank." Really, their words.

So I looked into it, of course, and find it agreeable. You can read up on the Five Love Languages here. Then, take this little quiz and find out your love language, if you can't figure it out from the descriptions on the above site. Mine was pretty accurate.

The Five Love Languages

My Primary Love Language is Acts of Service

My Detailed Results:
Acts of Service: 10
Words of Affirmation: 9
Quality Time: 7
Receiving Gifts: 4
Physical Touch: 0

Dr. Gary Chapman shares, chapter 7, page 93;
“...and no one likes to be forced to do anything. In fact, love is always freely given. Love cannot be demanded.”

I love these three pieces! They are from the Erickson Beamon for Target line and they won't be around forever, so I have to get on it! I was feeling a bit lazy with this post....just click the ** to check them out. My birthday is July 31st! :D

Mmmmmmm, chocolate...!!

Earlier this evening, the guy, unexpectedly, decided he was going to buy a new video game. Mind you, one game is $60 and he is already playing another three. He came home with his new game and a bag of emily's dark chocolate covered blueberries.

So I wasn't too upset
. :)
Photobucket

They're good. I am sooo tempted to eat the whole bag, and it doesn't help knowing that it would be less calories than eating the pint of ice cream in the freezer...

Killzone 2-- No audio fix

If you happen to have Killzone 2 and there is no audio when you load up the game, I may have a solution for you. Go to audio settings on the XMB and make sure the ONLY ONE checked is Dolby Digital 5.1, I also had DTS 5.1 checked, but once I undid that... *tada!* Audio!

If that doesn't solve your problem, you might want to:

  • Check your cables
  • Check the in-game audio settings
  • Turn off PS3 and restart
If all else fails, maybe delete the save content and boot up game to start new download...? Maybe!

Planning, planning, planning!

I can't believe she is going to be one already! Time, really, is flying by! Sometimes, I'll stay up at night just watching her videos or looking through the massive amounts of pictures I have of her from before she was even born! Ultrasounds, measurements, her heartbeat...thanks to Eman's cell! Anyways, back to the point. Yo Gabba Gabba birthday. Yeah, I know she's younger than their suggested demo but, what can I do?, she loves the show! Invites, done. Goodie Bags, planned and everything bought for them to be made. Pinata, ordered. and it is a very cool DJ Lance Rock Radio. But, I might change it, if it is smaller than I hope. Or make one, with YouTube's help, of course.

Pizza Hut's Tuscani Lasagna is the shiiiiiit!

OK, so last night we were hungry...like really hungry, due to.... all the fresh air out on our balcony and what not, but I did not want to cook! We ended up ordering the Tuscani Lasagna from Pizza Hut and, holy shit, was I surprised! The guy is a very picky eater so I was worried he wasn't going to like it, because of the ricotta cheese, but even HE LOVED IT!!

"With layers of lasagna noodles and real ricotta, Parmesan and Romano cheeses smothered in Italian-seasoned meat sauce and freshly oven-baked with a layer of melted cheese, you'll get the taste of Italy, delivered right to your door. Get over 3 lbs. of pasta plus 5 breadsticks for $14.99!"

When I checked online the coupon isn't available on the Pizza Hut site but I added it to my order at the end and it worked!
$5 off the Tuscani Lasagna, so we only paid $9.99 for 3 pounds of hot, cheesy, meaty deliciousness!

Try it out! Coupon code IQ for $5 off the tuscani lasagna and 5 breadsticks!

So, so wrong

"The photograph has the appearance of one taken during an official domestic violence investigation. The Los Angeles Police Department takes seriously its duty to maintain the confidentiality of victims of domestic violence. A violation of this type is considered serious misconduct, with penalties up to and including termination."

It is so, so wrong. This whole situation is wrong on so many levels.
People go through shit like this every day but they don't get the same privacy, because they are famous? Obviously, they are real people, just like us. People go through this on a daily basis and forgive, or move on. This girl is in such a hard place. They are both so young, today she turns 21 :( and he is only, what?, 20? Hitting a woman is never right, for any reason, but girls do forgive these pigs. What if she is "in love" but cant be with him because everyone knows now, and how stupid would she look? So then she has to be unhappy in order for the public not to perceive her as an idiot? IDK... like I said, she is in a bad situation ALL AROUND. I'm going from articles and reports but I think things would be completely the same, had the outsiders not called the cops. They would've canceled their Grammy appearances, not been seen for a few days, or weeks, because they were off on some "romantic getaway" having some couple time, they would be back soon enough...
...............scratch, bite mark, contusion and bruise free.
Just like new!

But I do hope she leaves that jackass!Photobucket

Street Fighter IV....

....is pretty good, so far. The first, and worst, mistake they made was in their choice of intro music. I can't describe it in any way, other than "really fucken gay music." Really, is it from High School Musical 3 or something?! Zac Efron probably thinks it's the best part of the game.

WANTED

I wasn't sure if I wanted one out of the three or all three of them! Preferably all three though! These are very cute pendant necklace's, also very affordable! I will be ordering very soon.

Friday the 13th...for the billionth time.

As promised, I am back with my (sort of) review of Friday the 13th. I give it a 4 out of 5. Coming into this I had realistic expectations: 1) It's a Jason movie 2) given the prior, you can conclude that there isn't going to be much depth to the story and 3) Friday the 13th= boobs, sex, booze and blood and I was not let down! I heard people saying they expected it to be a lot better but, I mean.... what did they expect?! An award winning storyline?! A-List actors?! This is Friday the 13th we're speaking of here...!!!

Friday, February 13, 2009

The scientific name for the fear of Friday the 13th is paraskavedekatriaphobia.

Interesting info, yo!

We are watching the new Friday The 13th ASAP! I don't have high hopes for it, though, as all 'Jason's' include hot girls and guys, booze, sex, and lots of killing. Those things (IMO) always equal a good time but there is not much room for originality. What is this...the 12th, 13th Friday the 13th movie?? Let's hope it is good!

Nadya Suleman needs to be more original...

Really? I did NOT expect an Angelina doppelganger! The hair, the lips, the nose.. what is going on? If she hasn't worked in some time in order to further her education and have a family... HOW DID SHE PAY FOR THE NOSE JOB AND LIP INJECTIONS?! I watched part of the interview, going to watch the entire thing on Monday and I will update with my thoughts.

Best Super Bowl Commercial, IMO

Hahaha, love it!

Agreed!!

I read somewhere that Stephen King thinks Stephenie Meyer should be murdered, or something. I agree with either one. Kidddddding guys! But, I really think she should look into a career writing for Harlequin, don't you think?

the apple of my eye

.........is going to be 1 in April! It is going to be a small, but fun party! We are only inviting our close ones to celebrate with us. Man, I can't believe it. I need to print some sort of party planner in a bit and get started on that soon before anyone else picks that theme for their party! Which is bound to happen because, I mean, HAVE YOU WATCHED THE SHOW? And the kids watching the show... seriously, it's heaven. I am considering making the pinata myself, lol, since I cant seem to find one anywhere!!!

Updates soon.

Tuesday, January 27, 2009

Currently, I am following 6 shows:
-LOST
-Gossip Girl, typical!
-One Tree Hill
-Heroes
-90210
-House, sporadically.
I've, actually, just started watching this show last week!
And it comes on often (reruns).

Watching shows online** is so convenient(!!!),
since the time slots for some of my shows overlap!

So... now what?!

have no idea what I want to study.
I want to study: English, Psychology, Philosophy.
Not good with math's and science's.
Visual learner**, i make great detailed lists and enjoy making them,
Fashion or jewelry design :D
but no (affordable) programs nearby... to my knowledge.

visual learners:

* take numerous detailed notes
* tend to sit in the front
* are usually neat and clean
* often close their eyes to visualize or remember something
* find something to watch if they are bored
* like to see what they are learning
* benefit from illustrations and presentations that use color
* are attracted to written or spoken language rich in imagery
* prefer stimuli to be isolated from auditory and kinesthetic distraction
* find passive surroundings ideal

To times past...

...just a little tribute to better times =)

Friday, January 9, 2009

It's a scientifically proven fact that boredom results in blogging,
almost 99% of the time.

With that said, even though it's a bullshit statistic I just made up,
here's something I wrote a long time ago:

Love alone will not preserve us.
Time does not stop
Rewind
Or record.
Life will pass you by.
The first step towards happiness
is to figure out
WHAT you want!
You should always be working towards something.
If not,
time is being wasted
and wasted time can never be recovered.
As time does not stop,
Rewind
Or record.
Love is uncontrollable,
unexplainable
and, in a sense,
unattainable.
It is vital to us as human beings
but love is NOT perfect,
as we were lead to believe.
There is no fairy tale love,
but that's what we all want...
PERFECT love.
Well, the truth is:
marriages end,
relationships fall apart
and things dont always work out for the best.
As long as we all search for an unrealistic love,
we will all suffer through very real loneliness.

Incubus fans rejoice!

A Harvard education!? 12 albums and tours all over?!
Writing books, making art and putting songs together!?
Kilmore is the only one not wasting his time on petty things!
Perfecting the art of blunt.... very time worthy.

I happen to think...

...that Radiohead is the shit. And when I say shit... I mean musical geniuses! Really, how many bands are there that keep making great records, without repeating the same formula of their previous, successful records? Chili Peppers ARE good... but all the "new" music sounds like the old music. And the same is true for many other bands, e.g., Nickelback, Metallica, The Offspring. How many switch up their sound successfully? Linkin Park did it and I really tried to like it but, honestly, I liked about half of their newest album. And Chester's singing live now, is nothing like it used to be. Incubus is, another, good example of a band effortlessly and successfully changing up their sound. Anyway, today was a Radiohead day.

Admit it guys!
You all know at least one girl...maybe guy,

Women, men, teens, adults, gays, lesbians, black, white, asian...

One thing has remained a constant truth: Johnny Depp is sexy.
